Hilda M. Ortiz

Policy Coordinator


Hilda serves as the Policy Coordinator for Latino Health Access in Santa Ana, CA, where she works alongside community residents to design community-driven policy advocacy campaigns to address social determinants of health through policy, systems, and environmental change. During her time at Latino Health Access, she has co-led year-round outreach, education, and civic engagement strategies, successfully working with promotores to engage thousands of Santa Ana residents to participate in city planning and policy-making processes. She has also led a nationwide capacity-building project to enhance the ability of community-based organizations to lead authentic engagement of community residents. Hilda has also developed training programs for Promotores and community residents to participate in local civic engagement efforts.

Hilda received her Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health Science from UC Irvine in 2012. She is originally from Jalisco, Mexico, and now enjoys her free time with her three children and husband in Santa Ana, visiting new restaurants and attempting home DIY projects.
